We Are Cellix
Providing Microfluidic Solutions and
Inish Solutions for Cell Analysis
ABOUT US
Cellix was established in 2006 having spun-out of the Departments of Physics and Clinical Medicine in Trinity College Dublin. It was co-founded by Vivienne Williams, Dmitry Kashanin and Prof. Igor Shvets. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland; Cellix has multiple distribution partnerships across Europe, US and Asia where are products are sold to both academic laboratories and into pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Cellix first started developing microfluidic biochips for cell-based assays. These assays focused on cell adhesion under flow in microfluidic channels fabricated in plastic. Cellix designed and developed novel biochips and microfluidic pumps, underpinned by several patents in Europe and the US. Applications include thrombosis (platelet adhesion, aggregation and thrombi formation) and inflammatory models. Many customers use Cellix's products as more representative alternatives to animal testing, where advantages of low blood volumes are important. We expanded our biochip range to enable cell-cell adhesion assays and transmigration assays. We further developed our product portfolio of microfluidic pumps and biochips for more wide-ranging applications including droplet microfluidics and organ-on-chip. We also began introducing cell detection methods on-chip using impedance spectroscopy which resulted in our Inish Analyser, now currently being developed for applications including QC for CAR-T cells.
Following Cellix's acquisition by Randox Laboratories in 2023, Cellix's skill-set in microfluidics is being applied at Randox developing new diagnostic tests.
