Prof Igor Shvets is Head of the Dept. of Physics at Trinity College Dublin and co-founder of Cellix.  Igor has successfully spun out three export orientated high tech campus companies, Deerac Fluidics (high throughput liquid handling; merged with Labcyte and acquired by Beckman Coulter); Cellix and Miravex (3D skin analysis).

Igor has published over 230 peer-reviewed papers and 27 patent families.  His research interests include microfluidics, the surface and magnetic properties of oxides, scanning tunneling microscopy (both ambient and low temperature), materials for cleaner energy generation, self-assembly of nanostructures and advanced materials for IT and renewable energy purposes, polarons on oxide surfaces, oxide nano-templates.  Igor joined Trinity College Dublin in 1990, first as Lecturer, then as Associate Professor and since 2007 he has been a Professor of Applied Physics.  Igor graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and obtained his PhD in 1989.
